Intravenous injection, abbreviated as IV, provides the quickest onset of the desired effects because the substance immediately enters the blood, and is quickly circulated to the rest of the body.It is administered between  25° and 45° angles.

This type of injection is the most common and is often used for emergency treatments, fluids, and medications requiring rapid action.

Intradermal Injection

Intradermal injection, abbreviated as ID, consist of a substance delivered into the dermis, the layer of skin above the subcutaneous fat layer, but below the epidermis or top layer. An intradermal injection is administered with the needle placed almost flat against the skin, at a 5° and 15°  angle.

These kinds of injection techniques have specific purposes. Namely, allergy testing and immunizations such as TB skin tests.
